Our hand knotted carpets offer the ultimate in fair trade. They provide work for skilled Weavers, (two months work per sq yd in our finest quality). We also make sure the Weavers are paid fair wages for their work. There is no middlemen or retailers profit and any profit Mala Handicrafts make, goes to Project Mala to fund their schools program.

Tufted Carpets

The David Yarrington Collection
Tufted carpets are produced by injecting wool into a Hessian backing using a hand operated gun. The tufts are secured to the backing with a latex and that is covered with a quality backing. It is a quick process so carpets can be made to look the same as hand knotted carpets but cost less. This process also lends itself to mare modern designs with large areas of plain colour.
