Picture information
Description:
This carpet derives its name from a weaving village in the Mirzapur/Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh, where twenty years ago a carpet was woven for Holyrood House. This design bears a distinct resemblance to the formal design used in that carpet. Because of the detail, it is woven in 40:40 quality with 160,000 knots in every square metre. The symmetrical pattern gives the rug a sober but appealing look. It is in every way a classic Indian carpet that will be appreciated by knowledgeable carpet people.
